Plant Heritage - Hampton Court Flower Show 2012

A chance meeting last year at The RHS Press event with Jo Jones form Plant Heritage , I was asked to design a water feature for the Plant Heritage Marquee at Hampton Court Flower Show. The small water feature then turned into a few months ago , designing and building Five Continents ! The Marquee is also sponsored by the RHS so the nerves kicked in as I realised that this would be judged not only on aesthetics but also scientific accuracy. Every plant has to be native to it's Continent.

Mick and I have spent the last few days building the large central feature which runs down the centre of the Marquee. Collection holders for some of Britain's National Collections of plants flank the outside of the Marquee. It has been a tough task with just the two of us and sourcing the plants has also been tough. I was lucky to have some wonderful specimens from Big Plant in Sussex. Bruce knows his stuff and we selected some lovely plants which cover most of the Continents. Wisley plant Centre were also very helpful, with Arlene going round with me hand picking.

We are nearly on the last leg and Bob Sweet Show Director came over yesterday to congratulate me which makes the 10 hour days more worthwhile!
