With a love of roses and the desire to have somewhere to relax and enjoy the views of the Ashdown Forest, my client was eager to have a garden extending from her barn conversion in a space which for some time been totally neglected.
The design for the terracing and associated borders reflect the contemporary style of the barn, angular and layered with added height of a hand-built, timber pergola painted in the same soft grey colour as the house.
Gentle coloured perennials were used to soften the base of the many hand selected rose varieties, ranging from climbers to shrub.
A wildlife pond with small pontoon was added at a later date, extending the garden area away from the barn taking advantage and embracing the natural surroundings.
